The trail initially descends through the valley before climbing steadily uphill toward Gudel, passing through peaceful countryside and traditional settlements along the way. The route ascends toward Salpa Bhanjyang, the high point of this section, where clear weather can reveal spectacular views toward Everest, Makalu, and the vast Arun Valley. From the ridge, descend toward the sacred Salpa Pokhari (Salpa Lake), a tranquil high-altitude lake of deep spiritual significance to the local Kirati communities. Traditionally regarded as a place of blessings and wish fulfillment, the lake offers a peaceful and mystical setting after a demanding day on the trail.

DAY 6

Rest Day at Salpa lake

Today is a peaceful rest and exploration day at Salpa Pokhari, allowing time to enjoy the tranquility and natural beauty of this sacred mountain lake. After a relaxed breakfast, spend the day by the lakeshore with a picnic, quiet walks, and time for reflection. Salpa Pokhari holds deep spiritual significance for the Kirati communities of eastern Nepal, who regard the lake as a sacred place connected with divine powers, ancestral traditions, and blessings. Pilgrims traditionally come here to pray, make offerings, and seek blessings for prosperity, well-being, and the fulfillment of wishes. We will have an opportunity to respectfully participate in puja and traditional offerings at the lake, while learning about the beliefs and local traditions that have made Salpa Pokhari an important pilgrimage destination for generations.

After an early breakfast, begin the hike toward Silichung Peak, one of the most spectacular viewpoints and sacred landmarks of the Salpa region. The ascent rewards us with sweeping Himalayan views and, in clear weather, an impressive panorama of the surrounding Everest range and valleys. After spending time at the viewpoint for photography, rest, and appreciation of the landscape, we descend and continue our trek toward Sanam, following remote mountain trails through forests and traditional countryside. Upon arrival, settle into a local teahouse and enjoy a well-deserved rest.
