The Upper Mustang Tiji Festival Tour is an extraordinary journey into one of the world's last remaining hidden Himalayan kingdoms. Once a restricted region and former Kingdom of Lo, Upper Mustang is renowned for its dramatic desert landscapes, ancient monasteries, centuries-old Tibetan Buddhist culture, and the legendary walled city of Lo Manthang. This 16-day curated expedition combines Nepal's cultural highlights with an immersive exploration of remote mountain villages, sacred cave monasteries, and historic trade routes, offering travelers a rare glimpse into a way of life that has remained remarkably unchanged for centuries.

The highlight of the journey is the opportunity to attend the three-day Tiji Festival, Upper Mustang's most important religious and cultural celebration. Held annually in Lo Manthang, the festival is a sacred Buddhist ceremony performed by monks through elaborate masked dances, rituals, music, and prayers. The word "Tiji" comes from the Tibetan phrase Tenpa Chirim, meaning "Prayer for World Peace," and the festival narrates the legendary story of Dorje Jono, a deity who defeated destructive forces to restore harmony, prosperity, and balance to the kingdom.

For the people of Mustang, Tiji is far more than a festival—it is a profound spiritual event that symbolizes the triumph of good over evil, wisdom over ignorance, and hope over adversity. The ceremonies are believed to bring blessings, peace, prosperity, and protection to the land and its people. Witnessing Tiji in its authentic setting is one of the most remarkable cultural experiences in the Himalayas, offering travelers a rare opportunity to connect with a living Buddhist tradition while experiencing the unique heritage, spirituality, and timeless beauty of Upper Mustang.
